Just thought I'd share an interesting perspective my mother has concerning modern day creativity. We were talking about how many things have changed in our lifetime and I suggested that the big thing I expect historians to say about my lifetime is not any one event, but how quickly one event followed another. She brought up the suggestion that this era is comparable to the Renaissance. We're living in an era of amazing and amazingly diverse creativity. Told her I'd share that observation with this forum.

I agree about the intense creativity, but with a caveat: unlike people in the Renaissance, we are aware of limited resources. There are no new continents to discover, conquer, and exploit. How long could the Renaissance have sustained itself if everywhere in the world had developed equally up to that point?
