I have a question about the effect of RMH on home owners insurance. Has anyone had an issue with getting or keeping insurance after they installed a RMH. I am thinking about installing one in our garage so I can convert the garage into a year-round workshop. Thanks inadvance!

I have heard lots of reports of insurance companies refusing to allow a RMH, or refusing to insure a house with one. If it is in a garage, that may be alright. There may be some cases where insurance companies have insured houses with RMHs in them; I would like to hear actual reports too.

Consider building a batch box instead of a J tube (no exposed flames) then call it a masonry heater not a RMH, that may allow your insurance company to insure it.
