SWM 35 VT

Well I'm not seeing a lot of young woman in VT, on here but thought I would give this a try anyway. I'm in the first stages of becoming a homesteaer. I'm reading a lot of books and experimenting alot with what I have, which is not a lot. It would be great to have a partner to share  this adventure with. If your interested in me or just geting together to be around a like minded person then comment below.

Hi, My brother and I have started an off grid homestead in Burke, NY. I'm currently looking for volunteers to help us. We have tons of knowledge. Would you be interested in volunteering for first hand experience?

Been doing some homesteading in west central Illinois since 2008. Not sure if you are still out there. That's the trouble with these single sites, sometimes the posts don't get deleted and wind up in the back of the fridge wrapped in tin foil and  growing fur and mold. --Rebecca

Apparently I turned off my notifications, for this fourm. Thank you for the offer. I might take you up on that some day. It’s a little bit of a hike from where I am. I can take a weeks vacation this summer. Maybe we can make plans then. Of course if the offer still stands.

I am looking to relocate somewhere that is warm all year around, but not sure if that will happen, depends on what a find. I have been saving to purchase property where I can live off grid, or join a community. This will be all new to me so I prefer a partner or community. I starting doing a garden in my backyard last summer and doing it again this summer.  I am sick of the city and just want live my life simple as possible and nature bound. I currently work as a nurse practitioner, which I no longer enjoy or feel fulfilled doing. I really want to grow herbs and use that a medicine.

There is this integrative medicine program at University of Arizona College of Medicine. You  reminded me of it. Sorry I don’t know why you don’t like being a nurse practitioners. Your obviously not intrested in that direction. Well at least it will make it easier to make a transition. Lots of work here at Dartmouth Hitchcock.

Check out wwoof.net. it’s a great program for people wanting to work on farms. Ive not tried it but have wanted to. It might be something you will find interesting. A good stepping stone might help you figure out what you like and dislike about homesteading.

Right now I’m in the dreaming stage. I look forward to livinging on a homestead. While I dream, Im expanding my knowledge and Library. I work as a gardener. Hoping this will expanded my knowledge of plants and soil. So far it’s working. I just look forward to the simple life even if it’s hard work.

Five years later... How did everything pan out?  I moved to the Upper Valley 4 years ago. It could work for me, but I'm still trying to find stability. Happy home, happy job, partner.. Without these things, it's hard not to think about relocating, but I'm also very tired of relocating.. but, tell me how it all has come together for you?
