Christmas trees made of books!

I keep seeing epic pictures of Christmas trees made out of books. I tried to make one in a past year, and it was so awful looking that I gave up.

Here's my start this year. Paul thought it looks good enough to put lights and decorations on! We'll do that later and I'll post another pic then.

We chose mostly green books, some of the best titles in the house, too. :-)

As I look at that stack, I'm trying to remember what a book is, as I stare at my glowing screen.

We had a light snow, one Christmas morning, so I went outside, and stomped out the shape of a Christmas tree. It was about 40 feet long. Then I used soccer balls and other balls, along with anything else brightly colored and made of plastic, as decorations. It was best viewed from the upper floor of the house.

If we have a low tide this year on Christmas morning, I will make a big Christmas tree in the smooth sand, beneath the public walkway, that is about 20 feet above the beach. That tree will be decorated with colorful rocks.

Ohh, I would love to see a picture of that snow-angel-style Christmas tree or the beach rock adorned one!

And yes, as I sit at a screen all too often, I forget how to use the paper kind of books. Though a visitor today did say she thought books were a far better use of a tree than just a temporary Christmas tree!

I was looking at something in the newspaper, and the print wasn't big enough. I held my forefinger and thumb on the page and drew them apart, as you would on the screen of a Smartphone when you want to increase the size of the print. Nothing happened.

Those are great books!  So, maybe colorful ribbon bookmarks hanging out of them for decoration?

That's nice, that would be a great idea. Christmas is almost coming, I found that Christmas tree cute. I love reading books perhaps I have lots of books here, I will make one like this and puts some lights on it. Can't wait to show it to my parents when they'll visit here in our house. Thank you for the idea, your awesome.

We got our first snow of the season, last night starting at about 5 p.m.

I made a very simple tree. Couldn't decorate this one, because it's right at the entry of a driveway used by a dozen cars.

It's rare for this little corner of BC. Victoria gets less snow than anywhere in the country, except for a few other select spots in the Gulf Islands, in the southern waters of coastal British Columbia. Most of Canada is covered in snow by this time.

Victoria has an unusual snow removal plan. It's called, noon tomorrow. It usually melts by noon the next day.

My plan to do a big Christmas tree by the public walkway, was thwarted by tides so high that they call them King tides.

I like the bookshelf one!

Lots of reading there, now to find mine, we put them up six years ago and they haven't been found yet.

I'm trying this again this year...and not liking the results just yet. Hope to get it looking better today.

We've done book trees for several reasons. They're kinda fun! Less messy! And, From poor soil and several droughts, the fir trees on our property (base camp - not the lab) are almost all a bit yellowish green. I keep thinking I might want to pee or fertilize next to a little tree several times over the year to make it prettier and greener for use as a Christmas tree. You know, one that needs to be thinned out anyway. Haven't achieved that just yet - it hasn't been a priority.

I'll edit this once (if) I get our book tree picture-worthy later today.

Anybody else make or see a book Christmas tree around?
