can I cover my plants - something is eating them

I finally defeated the cabbage butterflies, using Neem oil, and now something else is eating my plants. Gone are two brassicas and a half a kale plant, along with some onion tops. It almost looks like they were cut, so wondering if a rabbit found the garden.

At any rate, can I cover these with some sort of netting or something to keep the critters off? If so, where can I get it?

If tou are covering plants that do not require polination, such as brassicas or root veggies, I would recommend floating row covers, found in many places: johnny’s seeds,  ebay or amazon. It can also help you extend the gardening season by a month or so, if you us it to make a tunnell. It lasts for years and is worth the investment.

It depends on what you want to cover them with.  Covering with sheets at night might deter them for a while.  Covering with plastic mesh might work until they chew through it,  Using chicken wire would work if you fashion it above the plants.

The easiest sure way is to keep them out with a 2 to 3 ft fence.

You could also try planting with plants with smells they don't like.  French Marigolds are a gardeners favorite though something ate mine.  I still plant them thinking they will eat the Marigold rather than the veggie??    Basil, chives, oregano, rosemary and sage are sometimes recommended.
