adding pictures to my postings

Hi all
I would like to add pictures to my postings, but I don't have a clue. Is there a video tutorial out there or can someone give me a step by step lesson?
I know that I'm a knuckle dragger, but the http://somesite/image.gif just isn't making sense. I've tried different tricks that work with other servers, but they haven't worked.

First, you need to have the image hanging somewhere on the internet. If you have your own website somewhere, post it there. If not, there are many picture hosting sites where you can get a free account. Here is one list of such sites: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_photo_sharing_websites

Ok, so lets say I wanted to link to the small picture in the wikipedia article on permaculture. The url looks like this: "http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/91/Maler_der_Grabkammer_des_Sennudem_001.jpg/165px-Maler_der_Grabkammer_des_Sennudem_001.jpg";

If I click on the picture frame button that is part of the "Add BBC tags" on this website, it gives us two image tags, something like {img} {/img} except with square brackets.  Paste the url address for an image between those two tags, and it should appear when your message is posted.
