SoCal family looking for land

Hello community of permies!! I’m 20 years old and have a 2 month old son with my fiancé. Looking for land in Northern California or Oregon. I want to live in a yurt and have been researching and talking to different counties planning departments but permanent residence is very difficult. Hope to start a homestead for my little family in the next year. Looking for acreage, been using Zillow, Craigslist and landwatch. Fingers are crossed

Are you looking in CA/OR or Nation Wide? I have 5 acres MOL with no building department in LeFlore County OK, the closest towns are Poteau OK & then Fort Smith AR, it's in the Ouachita Mountains, it's VERY beautiful. I think a 50/50 owner finance may be possible. It has roads and a few neighbors, everyone doing their version of a homestead. The land has a a drive in with a culvert and a area cleared for a cabin. Power is a few thousand feet away. Many folks have wells, but several have tin roofs and rainwater collection systems they are very happy with. You can build your Yurt, or Cob, or what ever you want. $15,000

Do a search on the Oauchita it's got pine and oak mostly and the colors are majestic!! It's a tourist destination in the fall, could be Airbnb potential for a cool homestead with little cabins.
