He is tiny, semi-transparent.  I have included a photo, but if you want to see him move:

I found him while I was looking at some aphids.
We have a shallow well pump now (ours is about 25ft down).  We are going to install air lifts in the well for backup.  We will store compressed air in old 1000 gallon propane tanks and then use that to power our pump when we don't have electricity.

I sent you a follow request Patrick.  I love that instance.  I use freeBSD as my daily driver.

Have you ever heard the phrase, "if the service is free, you are the product."

Right now even permies.com is trying to track me with google analytics, and then google is going to resell that data.

If Big Paul is reading this, please consider using open source.  It is the permaculture of the internet.  https://matomo.org/free-software/

I can read the code of my social media platform.  There is not a room of techs with social worker degrees trying to find out how to manipulate my timeline for political gain.

I did not expect to go all open source disciple on that.

There is a lot to it, but for the most part it is run by the users for the user, instead of as a business.

If you want more specifics, look at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fediverse

ActivityPub is the widest used protocol for federation right now, but Zot is gaining traction.  Here is an example of what the creator is thinking:

The Zot Manifesto

You have the right to a permanent internet identity which is not associated with what server you are currently using and cannot be taken away from you by anybody, ever.
You have the right to refuse/reject or possibly moderate comments on your posts by anybody you don't know.
You also have the right to not allow them to comment on your posts in the first place, until such time as they have earned your trust.
You have the right to show your photos and videos to anybody you desire and also NOT show them to anybody you desire.
If your software does not implement these rights, you have the right to fix it or replace it.

If you don't know what that is, it is a new technology for federated internet.  It allows users to control their content themselves while also sharing the post from the people they follow.

Think of it like twitter(mastodon) or youtube(peertube) or soundcloud(funkwhale) but there is not one server, there are thousands and each one can choose what content they want to share.  Each server has a "federated stream" and a local stream. They can also follow the other types, so a mastodon user could follow a funkwhale user.

https://fediverse.party/ if you want to read all that stuff.

I setup a mastodon and a peertube recently for our property in northern Michigan.  I would love to follow some fellow permies that talk about, well all things permie.

We stumbled upon Salvadora persica while back.  It is also known as the toothbrush tree.  It has a chemical makeup that targets Streptococcus mutans.  This is the main bacteria that causes caries (cavities).  It is used quite a bit in Asian countries, but not widely known here.

We ordered some (you can get it on amazon) and tried it for a few weeks.  We didn't really like the taste of it.

We then learned about Glycyrrhiza Glabra, (licorice root).

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4148569/

We now use licorice root as a tooth brush daily.  We also like the taste (although I hate licorice candies).  We even started growing our own a few days ago.

I posted awhile back and I am not sure how many people were responding to me or the original poster.

We are still looking for people for intentional community.  I recently put up https://campdarling.com to be able to showcase what we are up to.

Anyone can reach me at marc@campdarling.com

Don't forget Blender (https://www.blender.org/) It is open source, works on Window's, MAC, Linux, and BSD.

It is normally associated with 3D modeling and such, but has a fantastic video editing suite built in.

As with any video editing, you can do it on any computer, but it may take you a long time if your computer is slow.
