Day 6
The first Monday to my first full week as a boot. It was the coldest morning since I've been here being in the single digits, but there is no problem warming up and shedding off a layer or two with the appropriate technology in these structures (thank you rocket mass heaters!).
We finished installing the floor joists today and worked together with no problem keeping busy. We're all so thankful for Freds knowledge and patience to teach us along the way. We talked about the flooring a little bit, made some measurements, cut off a few tongues for the edge of the mezzanine and 5 o'clock was right there. Time flies here and it feels good to be flying in the right direction.
Paul and Jocelyn arrived here shortly after dinner with Judy (the fire truck. It's been getting worked on since I've been here) and a truckload of food. I was in disbelief with all the high quality food we all carried in. I can't imagine how long it took them to get all that, let alone how much it cost. Yet another thing to be thankful for, and have to say the treatment here is well beyond what I paid for to get to this place.

Day 7
Taco Tuesday was a hit. It also happens to fall on my one week anniversary. Can I count the poker night as a celebration?
There was a lot of math with the flooring today. Tomorrow should be smooth sailing now that we have the notches around the posts. The only things that may slow us down are the chimney and running short of room with the ceiling.
We installed the railing for the couch patio as well.

Day 8
Another productive day here at bootcamp. I had the chance to split out and shovel some snow this morning, while Fred and the boots worked in the shop. I cleared off the roof of the van as well as a pathway in the back of the fisher price house to an area for compost. After lunch Fred went to the hardware store to get more flooring while we installed. It was nice to know he trusted that we could manage on our own.
We should have a good chunk of shop projects accomplished by the time the snow melts. Then we will have access to a whole new world of projects.

Day 10
Twas a good Friday. Nailed some boards. Cut some boards for shelving.
Paul and I went for a drive to a nearby hardware store to pick up a few things, while Fred and Chris maneuvered some wiring the shop.
Phillip switched out some bearings in the washing machine.
We shall see what the weekend presents...

Day 11
Almost got to see the other property today but the road has too much snow to get up there.
Maybe we can plow it or wait till the snow melts, whatever comes first.
I'm fine building experience and community until then.

Here are some photos for Sunday. Fred taught me how to drill out a busted rivet and replace it.
Dinner is done and now its time for Paul theater!

So nice to see things being fixed instead of tossed and replaced with more cheap junk.

Day 13
Somebody shook the snow globe because it has been dumping here at base camp. We have plenty of shelving projects to keep us busy indoors as we keep warm from the beautiful weather.

Day 14
Shelf section one complete in the library, three more to go.
As we put the time in it's nice to see all of us building skills and confidence in what we do.
There is so much to learn and carpentry can play a big part of what's to come.
