I live in a cold winter hot summer climate in a poorly insulated older house. I am considering recycling house material into the 24×40 garage that is on concrete slab. I want super insulation and was wondering if anyone used tires on existing stick built, what were the pros and cons, tips or extraordinary situations and results.
I have not had luck on the net regarding this subject.
I have cut up tires for projects.
They could be used as shingles it siding, but they are not insulating.
The dark color would adsorb heat, summer or winter.
Hi Lynn;
What way were you thinking of using tires ? Stacking with rammed earth ? Inside or outside the existing building ?
The concrete slab you want to use. Do you know, is it insulated under the slab ?
Do you know about rocket mass heaters ?
