Hey folks I came across this video series last night and just wanted to share with the community here.

*warning it can be emotional and disturbing to see a pony in such distress* (as well as emotional to see the kindness of the humans involved)

From the playlist description

Charlie has been a major pony rescue, with over 12-inch hooves I did my best to trim back the hooves but to rescue this pony we had to get professional help. I called the best farrier in my area to come to trim these overgrown hooves.

The Farrier recommended we should get some x-rays, after looking over the x-rays the farrier knows exactly what to do. What the farrier does next will shock you. We didn't see this coming.

We found out the Charlie had foundered and that's why his hooves have overgrown. It is going to take at least a year of trimming to get the angles right on this pony.

They raised $1000 with go fund me to help pay for the farrier as well as for x-rays of the hooves.

And on with the videos, there are 7 but they aren't extremely long (most in the 7 to 8 min range, with a couple at the end getting to 10 and 12 min)

Wow! I’m amazed at how much the pony improved! It gives me hope for a rescue mini horse I just adopted. Her hooves were not as over grown, but still very uncomfortable for her and distressing for the humans.  I thought I’d have to put her out of her misery, but an excellent farrier and lots of attention plus good food seems to be working.  Many months of recovery ahead, but this set of videos gives me hope!

Patti,

So glad this thread has helped give you hope for your rescue. Indeed some good months of rehab and recovery are going to happen to get better, but it can happen.

Thankfully your rescue does not seem as serious as the one from the video. So hopefully she will be on the mend a lot sooner and have an easier road.

Your comment has literally brought tears to my eyes, with happiness that my sharing these videos I found has helped another.

Just a suggestion, the folks in the video did a "go fund me" to help pay for the farrier, x rays, etc... You might want to consider the same, even possibly try contacting them to get advice on how to proceed. Nothing like talking to someone who has already been through it.
