Hello My name is Eric Sandberg owner of Fanciful Fungi in Sterling AK
I need help sizing and designing a Boiler and control system for a pressure Canner recycled from a Salmon cannery in Alaska.
It will be used to Sterilize Wood chips for growing gourmet and medicinal mushrooms.
Thanks for the help Eric

Hi Eric! Welcome to permies!

What is the scale of operation that you want to do?
How exactly does your pressure canner work?
How big is the pressure canner?
What exactly does it look like (a picture might help)?
What type of control system do you have in mind?

Right now, the closest things I can find similar to what you might be trying to do are examples of people using pressure cookers for substrate sterilization and mushroom cultivation.

The canner is 5' diameter 9' long, from a salmon packing plant.
I have not been able to find data to size the boiler for a vassal of this size. not to mention control systems...
At this time I would like to determine the natural gas requirements. As I will be trenching a waterline to the building this summer, and would like to do the gas as well.
I have not been able to down load photos yet ( just learning the Apple system.
