I.D. GMO's with the produce label at the grocery store

Has anyone confirmed this is true? This article claims that:

For conventionally grown fruit, (grown with chemicals inputs), the PLU code on the sticker consists of four numbers. Organically grown fruit has a five-numeral PLU prefaced by the number 9. Genetically engineered (GM) fruit has a five-numeral PLU prefaced by the number 8.

For example:

A conventionally grown banana would be: 4011

An organic banana would be: 94011

A genetically engineered (GE or GMO) banana would be: 84011

Generally, (and since I haven't had land for growing), I buy organic to avoid GMO food. I would LOVE if it were this simple for the rest of folks who might not buy organic.

Hey Jocelyn! Someone else I know posted this on facebook, and had this link in one of their replies: Huffington Post It says it's sadly not that easy to avoid GMOs.
