Has anyone bought from them? The trees and shrubs they sell are small, but the price is so good I'm thinking of getting some anyway. Well, some of their prices are good. the blueberries look a little high, but the apples look to be under $20, and some of the hardwoods too.

Wonder what it takes to become a member...

Anyway, if anyone has any feedback about them I'd love to hear it!

I have purchased from them many times, and have had most things live. They do guarantee what they sell, so if it doesn't live, you should be able to get a replacement. I have never tried that, because even though I have had some things that did not live, it was entirely my own fault. When trees come bare-rooted, you need to get them planted as soon as you can, and do it properly. If you are rushed for time, and slap them in the ground and forget them, well, that doesn't work so well. Some smaller plants, you might want to pot up and get them growing for a year before putting them in their permanent location. As far as membership, the smallest rate is very reasonable, and they give you 10 free (very small) trees. Also, you can choose from several groups of free trees. I have had the free trees grow pretty well most of the time, even with my haphazard gardening techniques. Last year, I had a little oak tree from them, and I planted it, and forgot about it for a while. When I went back to check on it, I could not find it, and figured it just had not made it. But this spring, there it was. It is about 8 inches tall this fall.

I wouldn't purchase from them again and I'm not convinced the price is that great. Stark Bros has fruit trees at pretty good prices as well.

Why I wouldn't purchase from them again is this: the trees are very small, which is a duh thing but, so small I can't collar them and they get immediately eaten by rabbits, etc. Not worth it.

I want to try the 10 free trees deal,  but only for the redbuds.
Last time I checked, they were the only tree in that offering that made food(aside from sap and bark).
At the price offered,  I can order 10 at a time and plant them in the same holes as other trees.

It's easy to join by paying on-line. Trees are pretty tiny, but I had several of the free trees and trees I bought at member pricing survive (would have had more if unexpected surgery hadn't messed up my planting schedule).

What I don't like is, after I became a member, they immediately began sending me a ton of junk mail, which is usually asking me for more money, or trying to bribe me with "free" crepe myrtles if I donate more. IMO, that's a lot of wasted paper (which is contradictory to the mission of saving trees). I shred & compost most of it, but they send it in the envelopes with the little plastic section for the name/address, so I have to cut/tear that part off before I can recycle the envelope.
If they would be a little more conservative with the amount of paper, ink, and postage they use, they wouldn't need to ask for so many more donations.

I concur! We are awaiting hopefully another survey! :)

If you settle for what they are giving you, you deserve what you get. Fight for this tiny ad!
