The "uncontacted" part is a stretch of the truth. Native Amazonians may avoid outsiders but they are totally aware of outsiders and have endured incursions for centuries. Check out the Tasaday tribe for an entertaining look at a "forgotten people" hoax. Sometimes organizations which raise money for preservation and native rights go with a complete isolation fable as part of their marketing.

Some tribes are barely contacted; a very, very few are completely uncontacted. Such as this tribe. Feel free to do research, Dale, on Dr. Moreles and his lifelong dedication to keeping the tribes free of contamination. Please note that Dr. Moreles is not funded by an organization, nor does he rely on fables to raise money.

His goals recently have been to stop illegal logging, which forces unconacted tribes out of their homes, which I think is very laudable.

Now I see my error. To me, being driven from your home constitutes contact. I stand corrected.

Which is why Dr. Moreles is trying to stop illegal logging. The video made it perfectly clear: Illegal logging is occuring across the border. Uncontacted tribes are being contacted by poachers and loggers through these acts. They are then driven from their homes as those ecosystems are raided. Dr. Moreles is trying to reduce illegal logging and poaching by documenting these uncontacted tribes, which forces his government to take action against the loggers and poachers. That is why the kilometer-high fly-over occurred: to prove that these tribes still exist, which will force the gov't to take action against loggers and poachers in that area.

Was that unclear? If so, please feel free to watch the video or do a little digging. Informed discussion is always welcome, but if you don't have the time to watch the video or do research before posting again, please let me know and I'll try for another synopsis.

Although further explanation might be fun, I don't need it. Saw the video on day one. Saw a similar one while in grade five.

It's inconceivable that the government doesn't know these people exist, when I have known since childhood that people occupy just about every habitable place on earth. Therefore, I don't see that proof of existence will force their hand in some way.

Nothing against the good doctor or the cause. I've noticed in many documentary shows that there is little mentioned about future plans to integrate tribal peoples into the greater society. To me it is inevitable that one day these people will need to adapt in order to survive. And It's quite likely that their young people will want to explore beyond tribal boarders. Sometimes I see researchers advocating for isolation as though they're operating some sort of anthropological zoo. The tribes should be allowed to choose their own future even if that means cell phones and motor boats.

How is it inconceivable that gov'ts need proof of humans before acting for said humans' benefit? Please note that this is exactly the purpose of the Census in the US.

interesting... i highly doubt they have any idea what the officail terms are for what they are doing and would further doubt they had any training from other humans on the matter
truth can be found throughout the world without anyone having to spread it, because it is true man seeks it out and sicovers it on his own and i would suggest that it is simple observation that causes them to grow food the way they do
good video, thanks for posting

and paul... i gotta be able to say thanks with a simple th x man c'mon.... :whine:
