Hi, Rick here.
I'm currently running a large somewhat remote, rustic homestead solo (not counting my canine friend SHEP).  I would like to start a friendship with a woman who is motivated, naturally curious and believes our lives should be in synchrony with the natural rhythms of the Earth, rather than the calendar and clock, and that we should be dependent on working with the land and being given sustenance and security through that work.
The homestead has log buildings, hand built on site mostly with on-site materials. Access is private and rugged. The homestead is located in Minnesota.
There is no electricity except for occasional generator use. Wood heat, wood cook stove, water is carried to the cabin.
The following is a list of my priorities, somewhat in order of importance.
1. Respect for all life and planet Earth, our only true home.
2. Physical fitness: routine workouts three times weekly, no smoking, no alcohol, no drugs.
3. Organic homegrown diet as much as possible-leaning toward vegetarian.
4. Self-sufficiency, as in "jack of all trades" to be practical a homestead needs to provide as many necessities AND niceties as possible.
5. Conversation: as far as relationships this critical item should be at the top of the list.
Intelligent, respectful and meaningful conversations.

Physical activities besides the usual, seasonal and day-to-day of planting, harvesting, wood cutting etc.
I am or have been an active participant in:
Technical rock climbing, running, biking, snowshoeing, cross country and Alpine skiing, swimming, weightlifting and regular workouts.
My homesteading skills include at least the following:
Log construction, woodworking of all types, blacksmithing, Auto and machinery repair, organic gardening, small scale grain raising, food preservation and poultry raising.
I am widely read and have some post-secondary education in, biology, genetics, earth sciences and  mathematics. I also have interest in archeology, anthropology, natural history and philosophy.
Well..... If you made it through all of that to this point and would like to start a conversation regarding the above topics, post here,  or send me a Purple Moosage.
I'd like to connect with you and would enjoy discussing the "day to day"of homesteading, or life's deepest mysteries with you.
R.R.

Post update!
To maintain truth in advertising, I have to now include that there are two canine friends here:
Shep, the elder and
Atlas, the younger. See photo.
Not like I was trying to bump this up or anything 🙄.

Thought I'd bump this post up again, it's harvest time and it would sure be nice to share nature's bounty with a like-minded lady, either in person or vicariously.

Hey Rich My nephew lives in Minneapolis and Ive been wanting to visit the Matthew Wood School of Herbalism, so you sound like a third reason to love MN. Ive been in the Pacific Northwest for 35 years, mostly, so lost touch with Ann Arbor roots at least to the extent of cold hardiness for serious kinds of WINTER, altho Ive lived in the high desert near Denver/Boulder, Santa Fe and Tucson. I do not exactly miss cutting and stacking 8 cords, no. But I do miss the smell of oak and maple leaves in the autumn, apple cider and the crunch of snow under my boots. Im very EDGE A KATE'd, mostly through reading broadly and deeply. I write and make art and am spiritual. Homeschooled my two kids until high school, had five acres and lots of critters for 16 years but sold it 9 years ago. You're choosing this lifestyle shuts out a lot of the world, including women. Didn't you have a helpmate there at some point?  --- Anna in Portland OR

Hi Anna, I think it's the other way around,  a lot of the world including a lot of women have shut THIS lifestyle out.
Most people have forgotten that up until a hundred years or so ago everyone lived similar to this lifestyle (as the Amish and others still do).
It must have been doable  and comfortable because it made it possible for 8 billion of us to be here now!
Just plain living....
