I found this video about making Tweed fabric.  Some great tools!

I understand he's pulling on something that makes the shuttle go, correct? If not, I am an asking questions and learning things kinda person, let me know! 😁

This lucky gent is operating a loom with a "flying shuttle"  https://science.howstuffworks.com/innovation/inventions/flying-shuttle.htm  A more modern industrial loom has the shuttle propelled across the shed using compressed air.
Non-production weavers are more likely to have a loom where the shuttle is thrown manually through the shed (how are you on other weaving terms???) from one side to the other, hopefully caught at the other end, before it becomes a space shuttle ( happens to me if I lose concentration). Then the weft thread is beaten into place using the reed/beater.
This link should prove helpful.  https://warpedfibers.com/12-weaving-terms/
