These are long gone (may of 2019 after a lot of rain), and in the three years I've been putting wood chips over clay soil these are the only two sets of mushrooms I've ever seen/noticed.
I wish I'd taken more pictures, but this is all I got. I did not disturb them, and they vanished within a couple of days if I remember right. They were from two different areas (front yard and back yard) so they weren't close.
In the last month, I've poured oyster mushroom slurry (in small amounts) all over the all the wood chips, and garden beds in my yard. Thanks to Eric for that advice. Maybe next year I'll get a few of those to pop up.
Anyway, I'm just curious. I did a quick search of common mushrooms trying to i.d. them, but it's a bit overwhelming going through the pictures.
I'm in the desert southwest northeast edge of Mojave desert if that makes any difference.
I am very pleased that you decided to try the mushroom approach.
But those don’t look at all like an oyster mushroom (but I am no expert by far at mushroom identification) so I am also really curious as to what you found there.
But good job on getting mushroom spores into your chips though. I will be interested in seeing what eventually comes up.
