Good afternoon everyone, I'm Jim Garlits. I've been lurking in the background at Permies for a while, after getting caught up in Paul and Shawn's Kickstarter for "Building a Better World in Your Backyard." I'm all about not being angry at the bad guys. It's more fun to present a better way of doing things and reaping the benefits right where you live. Nobody ever asked me about Greta Thunberg's right to address the world or how to stop the Supreme Court from allowing fossil fuel companies from drilling under the Appalachian Trail. But I can plant a garden!

The reason I wanted to post for the first time here is that I've started a publication on Medium.com called The New Leaf Lifestyle. The articles I'll be writing for it are based on 20 years of research on living at the proper human scale and pace. That is pretty central to a lot of what is happening with permaculture, homesteading, and all the other great topics here on Permies.

So please consider this a call for stories for my new publication. I'm not selling anything. It won't cost you anything. Any profit I make on Medium comes from my own stories, and Medium recently monetized their site so that writers can earn money from what they write. For most, it can be another stream of income, what some call "trickle income" but for those who gain a following it can be substantial. For you, not for me.

What I'm looking for is for those who would like to write for Medium, or even more specifically for my publication The New Leaf Lifestyle. Stories that show others, "hey, you can do this, too." Stories that make people want to try it. So many of you have experiences and stories to tell that I simply don't possess. We're just starting out, but I'd love for it to make a splash in the world like Permies has.

Are you a writer? Do you want to be a writer, writing about permaculture, homesteading, or just making the world a better place? There are tons of articles on Medium that show you how to write for their audience, which is in the millions, and how to be successful at it. It would help to spread the word, and I would be grateful.

Ok, here is the URL:

https://medium.com/the-new-leaf-lifestyle

Thank you for your consideration. If the moderators find my post breaks any of the rules, I won't be offended if it is removed. But I'm not selling anything. I won't make any money off of you. In fact, you don't have to pay a dime to write for Medium. I just want to get the word out that there is a more sustainable lifestyle...one that is more joyful, more peaceful, more fulfilling than the one we've all been fed. Thanks!

Jim Garlits

James, I really don't have the time to be a writer, but I do happen to have a blog full of short stories about my Hawaii homesteading adventure. Feel free to use any of those stories. Just give credit for the source. Thanks.
