Since wool is the topic of the week, I thought I'd offer this item from the dress-up trunk.

Again, it is sized for a small adolescent, but no numbers available.  I can take measurements, if desired.

But I'm thinking the fabric might have some value in a recycle sewing project.  It is dense wool felt.  I have the trousers that go along with the tunic, but they must still be up in the attic.

Possibly interested for my kid to wear as a costume. I'll have to show them the pictures first. It may be too small for a young teen?

I went hunting for the trousers last evening, and they are still undiscovered.  Scratching my head, but will keep looking.

Yeah, the dimensions of the top are weird.  It flairs just a small bit at the bottom; the tightest dimension is 32 inches in circumference above the waist, and because the fabric has no stretch, it might be difficult to even pull over shoulders that exceed that.  I'm thinking a side seam might have to be opened.  And to add to that, the arms are extremely long - an underarm measurement of 21 inches.  I'm 5'7, and my underarm to wrist measurement is 18 inches.

Holding it up to myself, it's no more than the equivalent of a size 4 womens.

I think the trousers are pretty short.  I will make another foray into the attic tomorrow during daylight.

I went to Goodwill at lunch to see if I could compare sizing.  Holding various garments up against myself, I should probably revise down to adolescent size 12 or 14.

"Jeff Warner in his book US Navy Uniforms and Insignia 1943-46 Vol 5 states that embroidered labels with Navy Clothing Factory were used from the late 1930s to 1943 with the later ones adding a line for Name and for Rate. In 1943 they switched to the same label but printed not embroidered. In 1944 they added the size and 100% Wool to the label. In 1945 they changed them to Naval Clothing Depot. As with everything in the military, things that are still in the supply system are issued so the older style labels were still issued well after these dates. These are the dated when the manufacturing changed."
