Hey Permies

I am looking for like minded people who are interested in homesteading ,self sufficiency permaculture ,living with nature  and developing a community and the land . We are stronger as a community than we are as individuals!
I am looking at Costa Rica at the moment  but there are other areas in South America that I am investigating.   I have saved enough money to buy the land but would like others with the same passion to join me. To build a community and work together to build a beautiful life on the land.  I am a 40 year old male have been living in the default world my whole life and am looking for the alternative. Being part of the solution and not the problem. Building a permaculture forest and living off the land. If there are others with skills that would like to build a non consumer community please contact so we can converse. I am not looking for dreamers ,I am looking for doers with skills . If you are looking to ride the back of another for your survival then do not reply.  Everyone has to do there part  for the whole to survive and thrive for the future. I am not a  vegan and would like to have animals but to each his own.  "Peace"

When I checked last week Costa Rica is open for Canada, and some other countries. Yet only a few states in the USA are Open.

If you would like to collaborate on purchasing land then we can surly work something out. I just posted that I am in search of like minded persons who would like live this lifestyle. I offered to purchase the land initially only because there are a lot of people who do not necessarily have the funds but have the skills. If you would like to own your own parcel I am sure we can work together We are much stronger working together toward a goal than we are working  as individuals.

Yes I know of Stephen Brooks and others that have communities near Puna Mona, in Costa Rica. In the Area you have:

Ecovillage at SEED Community Members' Organization, near Cahuita National Park  https://www.facebook.com/SEEDcostarica  I have spoken with them several times
PuraFruta.org Hone Creek, Limon http://PuraFruta.org
Planet One World,Cocles, Ole Caribe Road, Puerto Viejo de Talamanca  https://www.planetoneworld.org/  I visited the property
I met with the owner of Bio Caribe and they have a great properties https://www.biocaribecostarica.com/

There are many other groups and communities starting up in the area.

Land can go from $1/sqm up in the mountains and $150/sqm next to the beach. It is best to get land directly from local farmers/landowners. I have seen that the real estate firms like to add on 25 to 50%  There is a LOT of land and properties to choose from, and great opportunities.

Craig this Covid stuff has put a freaking damper on my plans ,I should have left the US years ago ,now I have to sit tight and do as much research as well as  forming as many positive connections as possible. So when we get the green light we are ready to make it happen.

I was in conversations with numerous peeps from CR  before this epidemic hit and now everything is put on hold . I will check out the sites that you mentioned .
Yes there are a number of sites and humans down there that are  doing some impressive things .

So as you quoted $150 a sqm.so if my math is correct, there are  4046.85642 sqm in an acre  that is $607,000 per acre. Yeah I am not in a position to spend that kind of money on my own. That is why I was also looking at other  land  in S.America that may have more affordable . Although I would like to be at least near water ,possibly l clear stream it is not necessarily  a deal breaker.
enough  flowing water could be a good source of power.  Any water other than salt would  be a good source for irrigation and consumption.Rain water collection would also be in the cards.

Don't really think I can afford ocean front property on my own. That is why I am trying to connect with the right peoples!

David This looks like a great property https://www.point2homes.com/CR/Home-For-Sale/Limon/Puerto-Viejo/Paraiso-Bribri/198-ACRE-FARM-IN-PARAISO-TALAMANCA-LIMON-COSTA-RICA/95158949.html

I know the area and know the agent actually. lol.  It was an area of CR that was looking at for land and first property I look at for this search. :)

It's not something that I can cover, yet with others and a few acres each, a community can be born :)

Sorry, I never heard of Brendan Mckeon.

The Punta Mala site looks nice and has a stream for water it great.  I know of a project that is close to it that I have been invited and following for a while https://www.sailcargo.org/

Personally, I rather stay away from the West Coast due to Fukushima and radiation in the ocean. Better to be safe than deformed lol ;)

When I was in Costa Rica, I discovered that China is investing in major Projects in CR. They build a New Seaport in Limon. They are building a major highway from Limon to San Jose. They are building a New International Airport in Limon.

In time China is going to build The Belt & Road Initiative https://www.silkroadbriefing.com/news/2019/05/27/belt-road-initiative-mexico-central-america/

So with this system, the highway will be going from Panama, and through Costa Rica (Caribbean side) and up to USA. So you may want to keep this in mind for future opportunities, Markets (Local/National/International), access to the transportation system, etc. :)

If you dod not have a lawyer try Attorney Roger Petersen This is his site https://costaricalaw.com/ Lots of info here.

Cheers :)

Yes I will keep that in mind, thanks . Brendon runs "Natural Living Designs " in CR  he is down there running his own company constructing designing  homes and  permaculture landscapes .You also can check him and his work on YT.
So are you down there as we speak. Are you working solo? Do you have other investors . Are you a real estate agent?  Never crossed my mind being concerned about Fukashima but now that you mention it.Yeah I would like to have stayed on the Caribbean side.
That is all part of the research.
