I have a question that I need answered for my wife as we are going to inoculate our garden with king stropharia and she is worried about it not being a good companion for all plants. Specifically with root vegetables and how the mycelium will be affected after and during harvests of the root vegetables(potatoes, carrots, radishes  ect. Does anyone know of research or information I can read up on for these questions?

Matthew,

I think that you should be OK, but just to be certain I am trying that very experiment this year.  Last summer I planted potatoes in wine cap infused wood chips and they grew just fine.  In fact, I missed a couple of potatoes and they are coming up volunteer this year.  I also planted a lot of potatoes (for me at least) right on top of wine cap infused chips with about 10” of woodchips on top.  The woodchips are getting inoculated, and potato plants are just starting to emerge.  I think you should be fine as long as your potatoes are healthy.

I will keep track of my growth and make note of it HERE:

I know that you want an answer now, but I will have a more definitive answer in a couple of months.

But I *think* you should be OK.  The potatoes I grew last year in infused chips grew very nicely.

Good Luck!
