One of the highest prices items, besides the batteries, can be your panels if you do not find a good deal. Lets face it, most places charge $400 to $600 per 250 watt panel.

And on the other side, I am one of the cheapest Dutchmen you will ever meet. So after waaaaaaay to much internet searching, and calls to far too many dealers, I have hit a gold mine.

180 watt panels for $190.

I found these guys on the dallas/fort worth craigslist page, and Jay, the company rep, sold me 4 panels for $760.

He apparently has 400 of these mothers to get rid of being that the commercial companies want the most wattage per square inch - 240 or 250 watt. The company he is selling these for has been sitting on them for 6 months now.

If you're looking to build an off grid system or add to your existing one, give Jay a call. He's based out of California, has stock sitting all over north america and has new stock coming in daily.

p.s.

I was not paid or asked to do this, I just can't pass up a good deal, and neither should you

for what it's worth, a relative of mine is in the solar biz -- he often mumbles about cheap, crappy, panels from some other country.
he seems to believe strongly that certain brands are well worth the money in the long run.
I know the dutch can be frugal -- but apparently -- in Turkey, a saying goes, "I am too poor to buy cheap shoes."
That is my type of frugal, spend more for quality if longevity is the tradeoff.
a lot of cheaply priced panels have flooded the market in the last few years, but apparently, they are not all of the same quality as the "expensive"' ones (so says my relative who has been in the biz over a decade).

well, our shoes are wooden

anyhow... Jay told me that he gets his stock from places that have either overstocked on one product, or from places like Ontario where people are no longer taking part of the federal incentive programs. He is dealing with retailers who have stock on hand that they want money back on... usually selling it for cost +1% or cost. They just want their money back.

He's a liquidator, not a retailer. There are a LOT of solar panels floating around out there, and why pay retail?

Am I getting an off the truck deal? Are these the best quality? Maybe, maybe not... But do I care after considering selling my left thumb (the only one left coincidentally) ? No

You have to remember that standard business practice is to sell at 100% mark up.

Wow!! Good on you man for finding such a great deal!! Being a truck driver, I was able to pick mine up myself in Dallas. Probably saved myself 2 or 3 hundred in shipping. Anything shipped to canada costs...

For my next trick, I'll need the help of a tiny ad ...
