Beeswax is a good coating for ferrous metals. It prevents rust, doesn't rub off easily, is self-healing, isn't greasy, and allows the natural look of the metal to remain. It is particularly useful to finish/protect forged finishes on items and to protect ax heads in use. I'm sure it would work to season cookware, but I would consider it too valuable of a commodity to use for such a purpose when cheaper cooking oils will do just fine, especially when the oils are going in the pan anyway. I think many people overthink seasoning cast iron. The best way I've found is to simply use it, and don't over clean it.
