hi im based in west wales uk keep bees, chickens, goats and grow veg we live as an intentional community here, practice home education and seek information from bee keepers who work with layens or horizontal hives!?!, we like sharing info with kids and are always happy to hear about good nature based activities for them , we are happy to share some of our kids activities ideas as we are professional childrens entertainers, and travelling showpeople in the summer (growing season!!), which doesnt really work lol.....but we are working out as a community how to manage this nice to connect with other self sufficient people (we think self sufficiency is a lie btw, its all about inter dependancy! skill and resource sharing is the way forward ) x

Welcome to Permies : )

We have a lot of talk about horizontal hives in our bee forum: https://permies.com/f/57/bees

I hope you'll keep us updated on your progress. I'm keen to try horizontal hives here in Tasmania where we have a similar climate to you.
