The question was asked "what sewing projects would be easy for a beginner?"

Good question!
Show us the good beginner projects you have done!

I started off by making a skirt with an elastic waist.  I liked it so much that this is the only way I make skirts unless  I want something more stylish.

Something like this:

I just learned to use a sewing machine last fall. so far my favorite simple things are hot pads, kitchen towels, cloth napkins, placemats, and gift bags. I have made my first handbag for a gift recently, and while I like the product it is a lot of work. I enjoy the somewhat instant gratification of these simpler rectangular things, I can turn out a set over a workweek or weekend.
