I'm so pumped. I just found this site that if you enter your zipcode you can find local farmers that are organic, permaculture, that sell clean meat, etc..

http://www.localharvest.org/search.jsp?m&lat=44.420163&lon=-85.432435&scale=9&ty=-1&zip=49663&p=1

this is the link to MY are in central n lower penninsula of Michigan but you can put in your zip code and find your area.

I found some permaculture farms that were very close to me that I wasn't aware of, also found places that sell shares for dairy, some that have clean meat, no hormones and grass fed, etc..and some are in my own 10 mile radius or just a little farther..the farthest on my list were maybe 50 miles away...but the closer ones were the ones with the best offerings, which is so so cool

Yes, Local Harvest is a great resource. I have used them to find local producers in my area and I have also used them to order and send gift baskets to my mother from a beekeeper in her local area.

You are encouraged to rate your experiences with them.

I did have one company that I had problems with and through the on-line feedback system they remedied it immediately. Great site.

i was amazed at how many places I found within a short distance of my home..some one road over from me I wasn't aware of. I'm always looking for places to get clean meat, we have a place where we can get eggs, but they are not free range, they are in a large pen. Some of the places close by have grass fed hormone free chickens, turkey, beef, pork , lamb goat and buffalo and products made from them as well such as sausages and cheeses. There are lots with fruits and vegetables but they will be in the same boat as me with the frosts and freezes killing the blossoms. I hope to check out one a week or more to see where they are, what they have, etc. There were even a couple that said they were "permaculture" farms..that especially interested me.
