I’m using a 300 gallon steel tank as the bell for my rocket mass heater (think of it as a giant drum.) This will be in my shop on a concrete floor.
Sometimes the floor sweats when there’s big swings in outdoor temps, so rust has me scared of sitting the tank directly on the floor.

This tank will have some bricks inside around the core for thermal mass so it will be quite heavy.
So the question is, how do I isolate the tank from the floor and support the weight? A few inches is all I’m looking for.
Concrete blocks might wick moisture up from the floor. Maybe concrete blocks or clay bricks treated with sodium silicate waterglass?

Thanks for brainstorming with me.

Hi Matt;
I would just set it on some cinder blocks.
I don't think you'll wick up enough moisture to rust your tank.
You could place a piece of wood between the block and bell.
If the wood starts looking wet change it out.
