Hello,
I've been dreaming the same dream as many on here and yet haven't taken any great steps towards this dream.
What is the dream, to buy a small plot of land in a warm climate, where I can build a small natural dwelling for myself and grow some food- with plenty of time to contemplate.

After many long hours researching the ideal place, I've decided on the Azores.
For many reasons, but the main ones being, that it was far enough but only a few hours flight to most cities in Europe, the second reason was the natural beauty on most of the Islands.

in any case, I've now decided to pull the trigger and to start taking actions towards this dream.

Thus I'm posting on here if anyone can help---

I'm looking to buy a small plot, with the following specifications>>>>

The Plot can be on any of the 9 Islands (My preference would be San Miguel)

Size is not very important- but big enough to be able to build a small house and grow some vegetables.

Some trees on the Land

A view of the Sea (but not necessary)

Permit to build a house

Under 10 000 Eur (with the ability to pay in installments)

I'll be ever grateful if anyone has anything like this on offer at the moment or knows of anyone, or can point me in the directions (individuals, website...) to get me a step closer to my dream.
Oh and if you have any questions--- don't hesitate to ask...

Thanks

Hello John,

Yes you might be right, but I did not want to go down that route.
Yes I'm keeping an eye out on what's online, but due to what my specifications were I have not had much luck. Thank you for the link, I think for now, I'll go back to the drawing board and  save up first, so I can buy something outright.

Many thanks

Hi Line!

It appears we both have similar dreams. Interestingly, I also initially thought about central Portugal before the Azores captured my heart! (I saw your previous post!)

I wonder - how has your search progressed? I’m planning to move to the Azores in a few months to start exploring. Fortunately one good thing came out of this pandemic - the possibility to work remotely!

So now I don’t have to save up for land while living so far away from my dream and can keep the spark alive. I’ll find somewhere to rent while waiting for the perfect opportunity. It’ll take some time, but after this past year I feel I have to take action.

I’d be very interested to hear how you’re progressing and what you’ve learnt so far. I only recently decided that the Azores would be a much better bet than central Portugal even if the land is so much more expensive, so I’m just at the beginning of my journey. Would be great to know someone on a similar path and draw from your experience.

If I can help you in any way once I’m on the ground in the Azores I’d be happy to.

Hope to hear from you

Jack
