Tell me everything about alpacas and silvopasture! 😄

For real though. I'm having a hell of a time trying to find info on the subject. We have a couple acres of pasture and a little over 50 of hardwoods. How well would a handful of alpaca take to such an environment? My wife works with wool and we have been pondering whether alpaca or sheep would be the better route for our situation. I know there are a ton of specifics that would play a role but at the moment I don't even know enough to be sure what those are. So please let me know which details are relevant to determining such a quandary.

Up in zone 4(ish). If it matters.

Any and all thoughts and advice are welcome and are super appreciated.

Thanks!

I know nothing....Ok, I know a little.
A farm I volunteer at has either llamas or alpacas or both, I'm not sure(I'm there for the building projects).
What ever the animals are they love eating fall leaves, so much so that the farm collects bags of them.
Evidently they have little in the way of energy but lots of nutrients.

Hmm.. interesting. I really know very little about alpacas (except that apparently they can be litter box trained?!). I know they are super adorable and have fantastic wool and not much else. So I'm going to be doing a lot of reading about them here shortly. I can't find a damned thing about silvopasture though. Plenty of information if you want to show them at fairs or something.

Cat talks about fish. Like it needs a fix. This tiny ad told me to never say "fix" to a cat person:
