“The liberation of the earth, the liberation of women, the liberation of all humanity is the next step of freedom we need to work for, and it's the next step of peace that we need to create.” - Vandana Shiva

Dr. Vandana Shiva is a philosopher, feminist, author and activist. She created Navdanya and the Navdanya movement to defend Seed and Food sovereignty and small farmers around the world. Navdanya promotes a new agricultural and economic paradigm, a culture of food for health, where ecological responsibility and economic justice replace the present greed, consumerism and competition which have become dominant in society.

Navdanya's Mission is to empower the communities belonging to any religion, cast, sex, groups, landless people, small and marginal farmers, deprived women and children or any other needy person to ensure that they have enough to eat, they live in healthy environment and are able to take action independently and effectively to become self-reliant through sustainable use of natural resources and have fairness and justice in all relationships.
