First off hello to all. My first post after reading around for over a year. I’ll make an intro post to give my background or whatnot later
So, I have built my first hugel. I dug down approximately 4’ by around 30’ long. Basically was 95% rocks with a very small amount of clay.
I hauled that down to the back of the property to deal with later and could not afford to haul in topsoil. I live a few miles from a cattle sale barn and picked up about 4 trailer loads of I’d say 75-85% composted manure.
My question is what should I or even can I plant in there for spring? Or even for the first year if it must be that long. I have several other raised beds so it’s not critical that it produce food right away.
Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated. I’ve gained a few new techniques just from reading here so looking forward to all opinions!
Thanks
Joe
