Using the built in quote feature, I got the bbcode tags displayed in my post. No idea how wide spread it is. Could just be that thread, for all I know.

The person you are quoting had " Disable BB Code in this message" checked for some reason.  It keeps the settings of the post you quote... for reasons.  

If you edit your post and un-check "Disable BB Code in this message" everything should be hunky-dory.
