Hi All! I love groundnuts. (Apios Americana not peanuts) They grow well here...effortlessly really unless I have a bad vole year. They are delicious and I usually have more than I can eat. However I am new to having chickens and I was wondering if any of you has ever tried feeding groundnut tubers, cooked of course, to your flock. I haven't seen them on the lists of feed/do not feed in my research or they are actually referring to peanuts instead. Thank you in advance for sharing your smarts with me!

hi! i also love groundnuts! i don’t have an answer to your question, though. i haven’t given my chickens groundnuts...but i can’t see a reason that it would be a problem.

H, interesting question. If it was me, I'd offer some to my chickens to see what they think! I don't know of any reason why they can't be fed to chickens. My goats love them (raw and chopped).
