From what I understand biochar tends to cause things to get more alkaline. My soil is mostly straight sand and very alkaline with high salts. Our water the same. Can I add some sulphur to the biochar inoculation to acidify it?
I tried looking at some articles talking about it but they were to over my head. I need simple...
Thanks, Julie

Hi Julie, this study: https://lib.dr.iastate.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=4406&context=etd found that biochar made it easier for plants to get their nutrients in alkaline soil, but this was a surprise finding that may not be reproducible.

If your soil is very alcalyne, maybe your biochar is less so than your soil. Measure the pH of both. Aldo, composting with biochar will bance its pH.
