The future of American farming

It seems to me that the New American Farms will have three starting points: Salatin, Shepard, and Brown, with Salatin's emphasis on grazing and community, Shepard's on agroforestry, and Brown's on no-till rowcropping. I like to think that these three approaches will sweep all of American agriculture before them, and along with the backyard bricks popularized by Wheaton and his clan, lead to a sustainable future.





The New American Farms will have nested enterprises, complex partnerships, agroforestry, patterning for water, cycled grazing animals, and loads of wildlife. They will be glorious, and we need to do everything we can to make them happen.
