Awesome - thanks for taking it! Your point is so true - it's very hard to capture the full range of experiences and transformations the people bring to their work in
permaculture. With survey
research it's about a more-or-less constant compromise between going deep and going broad. I'm trying to go broad with this, and so have to sacrifice the ability to go deep with any
given respondent. It can be frustrating for some folks - though I was glad to see it didn't stop you from enjoying it - borderline fun!
Otherwise the task of analysis just becomes to great - if I manage to get ≥500 responses to the survey, as I would like - imagine the challenge of analyzing 500 open-ended essays!
Multiple choice has some real limitations, but it also allows one to include many more people in the process. Does that make sense?
