Although this badge will take many a steps to get to a place to start, at least beginning the thread now so that the journey - and some of the goals - can begin. This way hoping to put in ideas for spaces, meals, and such here as my own little journal.

To prepare 800 plates of food.
A BB for the wood badge in food prep and preservation.

Requirements for all Food Prep and Preservation Wood BB's:
- 98% of the food for this badge is “organic or better”
- 75% of the food comes from homesteading, preferably from your own homestead
 - Nearby homestead or wild harvest (forage/hunting/fishing) is ok
     - Their food values need to be “organic or better”
     - Acquired with muscle power (bike/horse/foot/dogsled)
     - Trade, purchase or gifted is fine

Minimum requirements for this BB:
 - “Plate” means a meal averaging 500 calories
 - Food prep log (your thread at Permies) showing each meal with description of where the food came from
     - Each post covers at least 3 meals
     - Summarizes source of the ingredients (store or homestead)
     - Maintains total count of plates produced

Well, first is that living in an apartment will make it interesting to start gaining food from homesteading, which I suppose is why gardening comes first. My friend's have been asking me to help in their gardens, so the work in the yard then get some veggies option can get me started! Looking at: K's, AE's, M-i-L + friends. In the neighborhood: Y's. Also, should probably figure out how to tell calorie count in food.

This weekend we went to visit a celebration day at a community garden, that offered free veggies! Totally forgot to write it down or take pictures, was able to make some really yummy salads with lettuce, sliced apples, carrots, and sunflower seeds. Also cut some carrot into bite-sized pieces as a snack for later! No photos or count for this, but am excited anyway!

So there I was, trapped in the jungle. And at the last minute, I was saved by this tiny ad:
A rocket mass heater is the most sustainable way to heat a conventional home
