CREATIVE MEATS – 803-236-2996
It is so exciting to meet new people who are working towards creating sustainable community right here in Sumter County.

Just the other day I met Todd Brown. Todd is raising chicken, lamb, pork, beef and goat as nature intended – out in the pasture. He also uses Kingstree processing, a certified humane processing facility.

Todd would love to have you come out to the farm and see how the animals are cared for. For more information such as location, visitation or pricing of meats give Todd a call at CREATIVE MEATS – 803-236-2996.

First I heard of a certification process for humane killing. Interesting Google search term for me in the future.

The Kingstree slaughterhouse is certified humane. I do not know if it is the only one in South Carolina. Their standards for how the animals are handled are very strict and that includes how they are handled by the people who bring them to the plant as well as the trailers they are brought to the plant in.

Russell Singleton of Sunny Cedars Farm has a video of how the animals are rendered unconcious that I am sure he would be glad to share if asked. I find it interesting that this processing plant does not have a problem with people posting videos of thier operation while other plants around the country want to make it illegal.

We have two castrated Kune Kunes since they were two months old. They are free to roam our three acres and have been treated as pets. We feed them grain and vegetables and fruit and they are extremely healthy. They are outgrowing our property and we are interested in a humane way to slaughter so the meat and our investment can be enjoyed but we do not!!! want them to suffer. We are in Aiken SC.

Hello Sarah!

Welcome to the forum!

Are you looking for someone to harvest your animals for you or are you looking for tips on how to do it yourself?

Did you reach out to these folks at creative meats?   They might be able to help you.
