Hi guys. So I'm a liberal survivalist (or "leftist prepper", if you prefer) and I am starting a project to build a small commune called "Katoik", a shortened version of the greek work "katoikoún" meaning "to inhabit" or "live". I am searching for three things:
1) About $27,000 in funds (you can donate on my
campaign page on indiegogo.com),
2) Candidates for membership within the commune (preferably those that live in the pacific northwest), and
3) Help in planning the commune (much of which I may glean by looking through this forum I've just happened upon).
I want to build an enclave of order in the chaos that is to arise out of a global societal collapse that I feel is imminent. It will start very small but grow as people realize over decades that the world is falling apart around them. I want to build a large enough community eventually that we can start contributing to the making of a political state for the region of the pacific northwest (Cascadia) once the governments of Canada and the United States (and indeed the whole world) crumble thus stepping in where
they will ultimately fail. I want to help remake civilization in a sustainable form, I want to be part of that.
And in short, the reason I believe this society will collapse is simple: the problems are all too big, too many, and people are too apathetic or ignorant to actually solve anything on a global scale.
