Anyone here have experience with biobutanol? The technology seems to be, slowly, progressing and quite exciting. I'm curious about anyone or a company, school, group etc. working with it.

Thanks!

Hello Leah, a quick web search came up with a bit of info on the tech and a couple of companies working on it. I was involved in the production of ethanol via pyrolysis of wood or coal. Never did any fermentation. Looks like fermentation is the way folks are going on this. What specific questions do you have and what is your plan of action?

I've discovered some helpful research on line (federal government papers). Im interested in the feasibility of this kind of fermentation/fuel production from food waste maybe on a neighborhood or small community scale. I always find it helpful to talk to someone who has been hands on with the tech. And it seemed like the group may have a line on that.
Thanks for your reply!

theres a Penn State online course EGEE 439 ,Alternative Fuels From Biomass Sources , has a section on butanol , seems like the ideal replacement or alternative and has been done before in the past on a large scale, needs some down scaling and more step by step info ---well for me to understand it ---for a possible home diy , biorefinery.

I agree. Here's the link: http://stoves2.com
