Pickerel weed?

Pickerel weed is really starting to take over my pond margins, impacting access and overall water depth. Anybody had issues with pickerel weed in their ponds?

Overgrown pickerel can certainly be a problem. Is your pond situation one where you can weed it back without eradicating? Pickerel does have a number of desirable qualities:
- acts as a biofilter to purify water
- attracts beneficial insects
- nectary plant for bees and butterflies
- shelter for dragonfly eggs
- habitat for frogs
- seeds and young leaf stalks are edible
- stabilizes pond banks

So, if some could be removed, perhaps greater pond plant diversity would help keep it under control.
