Anybody in the midwest, i.e. ohio or michigan area that can recommend nurseries, books, DVD,s, or classes for this area? I have an acre that I would like to start permaculture and I'm feeling anxious that fall is such a great time to get started with this and I don't have any good local resources located so far. Thanks

I know some one in Northeast Ohio who enjoyed their experience with a Permaculture certification through Midwest Permaculture (midwestpermaculture.com).

Hi Jeff,

I work with Midwest Permaculture, I'm really proud of the courses we've been teaching. I'd invite you to check them out. Our next course is in Stelle, IL September 22-29.

If the dates don't work for you or the course doesn't seem right then here are some good resources to start with.

Free Online Resources

150-Page Transcript of Mollison PDC Course from 1981

Essence of Permaculture by David Holmgren

Leverage Points - Places to Intervene in a System by Donella Meadows

Nurseries that I like to use

Oikos Tree Crops

Possability Place

Books

Gaia's Garden

Earth Users Guide to Permaculture

DVDs

Anything by Geoff Lawton

The most important thing is not what you read, but what changes you make in yourself. That's why courses are useful, they help you reset habits by yanking you away from them and then filling your head with a whole bunch of awesome information. Hopefully you can come back to your life and start some awesome habits.

I've posted on our graduate forums that you're looking for local resources. Also, be sure to continue using permies.com as a resource!

Milton

Hi Jeff,

Our non-profit Green Triangle is bringing permaculture education to Cleveland. Presently we are putting on a PDC over 6 weekends this fall. There is housing available for out of towners and we've been actively seeking scholarship funds. The sign up deadline has been extended to this coming Monday the 27th. Please check out our website (greentri.org) for more information. Lastly, we are constantly putting together workshops and skillshares throughout the year, so please keep an eye out for our happenings, which maybe easiest by following our Facebook page.

Thanks,
Josh

PS, If you are still looking for nurseries let me know. I believe I've some good listings for the Toledo area.

Check out the Strawbale Studio in Oxford, MI!
http://www.strawbalestudio.org/

Check the calendar for upcoming workshops. Rocket stoves this weekend!

Anderson gave himself the promotion. So I gave myself this tiny ad:
the permaculture bootcamp in winter (plus half-assed holidays)
