Hi Angi, and thanks for hanging out with us.  

I'll be starting a new garden this spring and frankly, that might be intimidating enough.  I just may have my ambitions ahead of my skills by thinking that I can grow enough to eat and have something leftover to can. Plus, there are the monkeys to consider.  Once they find the garden I think all bets are off!  

Speaking of intimidation, that hefty piece of equipment in the cover photo also has me sweating. I only have an induction range and a butane single hob burner (fired by a can of gas).  Do I need to concern myself with getting the heat high enough in that beast of a pot? I'm concerned that the induction hob is a way smaller circle of heat than the diameter of that pot.  I do have a 3 qt Instant Pot, which I'm sure will can 3 pints of something at a time . . .

You'll be happy to hear that I have the quart and pint Ball canning jars and lids, but so far I'm using them for dry food storage only.

As much as I'd like to win a book, it's very unlikely that Permies will want to send it to me in Japan, so I'm off to Amazon.co.jp to see if I can buy a copy.
