Coweeta is a forming community looking for permanent members located in the mountains of Western NC near the town of Franklin.  While I have hosted volunteers for years, it is time to form a more permanent and lasting community of folks dedicated to the earth and each other.  Coweeta is off-grid (hydroelectric power), has a well-established raised bed garden that supplies veggies to the local community through a farmer's market and store, fish pond and much more.  Plans are to start a retreat and healing center.  Quiet, peaceful valley with little development due to no available power except what the earth provides.  Temporary housing is available while we build.  Sawmill and timber are available for building.  I've been homesteading for 35 years.  Coweeta is an alcohol, tobacco, and drug-free environment.   Learn more at www.coweetaheritagecenter.com.  paul

Are members able to own their own slice of this paradise and work as a collective whole ?

Hi Drew,  I just saw your post.  As a member, you are part of the community which owns the infrastructure (land, buildings, etc). Myembers have access to the whole property, not just a slice as you mentioned.  I think there are some advantages to this: c,ontrol of the land/infrastructure stays with the community; the community helps you build a house (shared resources you may not have: timber, saw mill, kiln for drying lumber, heavy equipment, etc),  and at least for me, I know I can't take it with me, so what is the point of ownership.  Members must be in good standing to remain in the community (more on that if you are  interested.  Paul

Ps I would be happy to talk with you more about this if you like.
