This was sent out via the monthly-ish this morning ...

How to affect massive, positive, global change?

A guy wants my book in more brains, so he sent me a sack of coin to subsidize the case price of the better world books. Neat! This means that for the next 3 days, the case price is less than half of what the already freaky cheap case price is.

64 books for $128.   Until noon (mountain time) on sunday.

possible destinations:

- little free libraries
- normal libraries
- sell them on ebay and the like
- drop a stack at an organic grocery store
- give to a local book store
- give to a CSA to hand out
- give to everybody at work
- more ideas https://permies.com/t/150777

To jump directly to the case purchase:

  https://permies.com/casebwb

To learn more about the better world book and see the current prices

  https://permies.com/bwb

The book is currently sold for $18 per book.  The reviews appear to be very strong.  I firmly believe that if a billion people read the book then most global problems will be solved - but I have some bias.

Part of the idea is that this flood of books could lead to a bigger flood, which leads to a bigger flood, etc.  All part of "try 100 things."

Questions?  Thoughts?

The price of US shipping for 64 books is hovering around $80 to $100 - meaning that the cost of the books is less than a buck a book.  I suppose that if a lot of people exercise this option, we will get a really clear idea of what the shipping costs are.

The case price an hour ago was $280.  With $100 in shipping that makes it $2.81 per book.

At $128 that makes it about 44 cents per book.

It would be the international rates.  Psychotically expensive.

I guess to get the rates down, the books would need to be printed in canada.  And then all the storage and shipping would need to be managed by somebody in canada.

I am definitely interested.  I LOVE this book and would like to share it. However, that's alot of money for me. Do I understand correctly that shipping is included? I live in Ontario Canada.

We do have a program for shipping it to canada, but the shipping is just psychotically expensive.  Further, our current system knows "US Shipping" and "non-US Shipping".  So if I set the price to something that works for canada, then I have to honor the same price for japan.

Therefore, the current price for 64 books to canada is 535 USD.

My co-author, Shawn, Lives in canada.  He appears to sell exclusively through amazon.

It is possible, that some day, the book sells so well in canada that an offer can be made for a case of books to be sold cheap there.

I wish there was a way to make an excellent offer for canada.

Thanks Paul. If I knew someone in the States, I would get them to pick up for me, but I don't.

Wondering if the shipping would include to Alaska (or Hawaii) or just the contiguous lower 48 states?

FYI, the dailyish I got Monday had a tiny ad for this offer, but looks like it expired Sunday? I'm also confused how $128 for 64 books calculates to 44 cents per book. Am i missing a line from the story problem...?

Good catch!  I had forgotten about those.  I have now turned those ads off.

See above where you get the number

The case price an hour ago was $280.  With $100 in shipping that makes it $2.81 per book.

At $128 that makes it about 44 cents per book.

$128 les $100 in shipping is $28.  $28 / 64 is $0.4375

Ah, it wasn't clear that the 100 shipping was being taken off the 128 dolla price, thought the 128 was the deal down from 280. At 28 I would have ordered a case...

Get me the mayor's office! I need to tell him about this tiny ad:
