Lentils as a cheap source of chicken feed?

I've read that they can be found for as little as $.10 a pound. I have not been able to locate them so far locally or online for less than $.50 a pound. Does anyone here have a source that they'd be willing to share?

I think you are seeing the effects of INFLATION. The material you are reading does not have to be very old for the prices on staples to be way off.

Does anybody grow them locally? Ask your Extension Agent...he probably knows.

Buying online can be a disaster for bulk items.
That 50¢ per pound does not include shipping/handling...ouch!

lentils could be one of the ingredients in your feed , but alone that is a whole lot of protein

I sprout lentils for my chooks in the cold weather seasons as a treat.

The best prices I have found so far are generic brands of dried lentil found at the local supermarket. I've looked at farms, coops, online bulk sellers, and still have found the best price point in the beans aisle.
