Hi all,

I'm a Dutch lady who is in the process of throwing her life around, and seeking a loving partner to share and realise dreams with.

The last years I changed my well-paid, academic office job for work at an organic farm. Which was a great move. And now I'm changing that for work at a social permaculture start-up near my city. I changed my technologically connected life with smartphone and home internet to a quieter life with just an old Nokia. I'm changing my little city garden from a place filled with tiles to a place filled with all sorts of plants. I filled my bookshelves with practical books about all this, my kitchen with whole foods and my house with a few smaller DIY-projects. But I'm ready for more.

I want to relocate to a different country, where we really have the freedom and nature to live the life I wish for us. I'm open to all sorts of places, ideas and people, as long as we share our basic values and a loving attitude. I'm not very experienced, but I'm happy to learn and use my hands to build and grow things.

I take with me myself - introvert, honest, creative, idealistic, gentle, slightly chaotic. And also my young teen son - sensitive, organised, calm, kind-hearted, animal-lover. He is just ending his primary school years. Together we enjoy being outdoors in all sorts of ways, playing board games, making fires, philosophical chats. We are trying out things like wood work or children's art. With my friends I like a good laugh or just being together. I did dancing and rock climbing. I like creative writing and learning about different languages and cultures. My belief in God is important to me.

I would really hope to find someone (or perhaps a community) to connect to. Someone to share a simple life with centred around family, community and nature.

I don't have a photo here, but this is what I look like today: darkblonde long hair, blue eyes, light skin. A bit curvy, but healthy weight. Feminine, young, gentle appearance, or so they say. Barefoot, simple pants and blue shirt, no make-up. My friend promised to take a few nice pictures when we meet next time, so if you are patient I will send them.

Hope to meet a nice guy (I'm 40, so somewhere between 30 and 50 or so would be nice) or people/a community to connect to. My family and friends are not into the changes I'm making, so I'm really hoping to invite people into my life who share these kind of ideals, whether nearby or faraway.

Hello Marianne,

Greetings from Canada!

I am a single 53 year old man in Eastern Ontario, about halfway between Ottawa and Montreal.  I have 2 beautiful 19 year twin daughters who live away studying at University.  I also have a farm dog.

I began homesteading here on my 50 acres 12 years ago.  In that time I have  raised pigs, poultry, goats, and grass fed beef. I have found that beef are the best animal for me given the time available and for my land--- they really help to heal long neglected pastures.  I also have a large vegetable garden.  I heat my custom built house with wood I cut from my own maple bush.  Whenever possible I try to be self sufficient but there are only so many hours in the day and one can do only so much on their own!   I have started my own cider orchard and hope to when I retire in 4 years to start a microcidery as well as a maple syrup operation.

I am a career public servant with a good income and will have a nice pension.  I am 5'11'' and about 200lbs, with brown curly hair with touches of gray. I too dont have any photos handy but that can be easily remedied.

I am also an atheist and that will not change, but I have no problem with people of faith and would respect your beliefs so long as you respect mine.  There are many churches in the area.

Best to correspond to me by email .  My address is my lastname[dot]myfirstname@gmail.  Have a great day!

Hello am Belgian man 49 and cherish similar dream simpler living that I have been working on within my own boundaries for several years to realize this first two purchases off grid in effort you made, but bad story that land has bought this week in Dordogne Valley cottage with 2 acre land grassland to create food forest. Green rich landscape alternating fields and many hiking forests, rivers...

Am not religious, Man has written so many rules of life in the centuries that the world is ultimately a mess, simple life is the message further everyone believes his faith if it does not harm any life!

My last blogpost is about this small house I now bought with views over the green French countryside:

Hi Marianne,
I am Lieven. A 46 year old male from Amsterdam. I am in a similar situation as you are. Fed up with busy city life. Ready for a new life. Some People near me understand and support, others don’t at all. What are the issues you face and how do you cope with them? What are the really tough decisions?
I am going to start riding my bike until I have found a place I would like to build a homestead. Preferably together with a woman, leaving in spring 23. Let me know if you want to make contact. 0686046999
