I find myself continually fascinated and sometimes puzzled by the behavior of my chickens. I'd really like to learn to understand them better, as I feel this would allow me to care for them better and give them the best life possible. I haven't had much luck finding good resources on chicken behavior though, just repeated explanations of "the pecking order". From what I've seen so far, their social dynamics seem to be more complex and nuanced than most people give them credit for. I tend to dislike the way much of what I read about chickens is written, as lots of it doesn't seem to be very respectful of them as beings or show much curiosity about them.
Basically, I'm looking for the chicken version of Jackson Galaxy, if that means anything to you.

I did find this lady, who seems to have some valuable insight. https://holistic-hen.blogspot.com/ I would really like to find more resources like this. I imagine someone out there must know more about flock dynamics and approach chickens in a respectful, compassionate manner. Suggestions, please?

I found this older thread about a Course on chicken behavior I didn't try the link so hopefully, it is still good:

https://permies.com/t/45680/Free-Chicken-starting

This sounds like a book that would really help:

How to Speak Chicken: Why Your Chickens Do What They Do & Say What They Say by Melissa Caughey

I hope you will share what you learn about chicken behavior with the forum as it sounds fun.
