Not likely, I've intently observed bee fly's myself, bee fly's are kinda like larger gray fuzzed version of mosquitoes.

I agree it is a Fly, I have not seen them in a long time. But I remember them around the Cows and they would actually live in the Cow Manure. I would see them crawling around in that and then they would grow wings and fly on the Cows. I am 99% positive of that, But still no name.
